Voters in Sachem and West Babylon school districts approve budgets

Voters in the Sachem and West Babylon school districts approved their budgets by overwhelming margins.
In Sachem, 68% of voters were in favor of the budget. A total of 72% of voters approved the budget in West Babylon.
The new spending plans include tax levy increases below the tax cap. Approval of the budgets means both school districts will avoid adopting a contingency budget, which would have included more spending cuts.
Sachem and West Babylon both failed to pass a budget last month that would have pierced the tax cap..
